INERTIA OF MOTION INERTIA OF REST
(1) The inherent property of a body by virtue of which it cannot change its state of motion, is called inertia of motion .
(2)It is due to inertia of motion that a rotating fan continues to rotate for some time even after it is switched off or a person falls when he jumps from a moving bus.
(1) The inherent property of a body by virtue of which it cannot change its position of rest, is called inertia of rest .

(2) It is due to inertia of rest that passengers in a vehicle get a backward jerk when the vehicle starts suddenly or fruits hanging from a branch fall down when the branch is shaken
