Tense is the time described by a verb, shown by its grammatical form. There are two main tenses in English: Present tense: things that are true when the words are spoken or written. Example: She goes to school. In this sentence, goes shows that it is a present tense. Each tense has four aspects that talks about the completion of the event or action and based on that, we have four types of past tense verbs: Simple Past Tense. Past Continuous Tense. Past Perfect Tense. Past Perfect Continuous Tense. English uses three principal forms of the past, the Simple Past (or preterite), the Present Perfect (or compound past), and the Past perfect, sometimes called the Pluperfect. All of these forms can also be used with a progressive aspect. Look at English grammar with Linguapress.
