Yes because then if it doesn't move in a straight line then it's speed would not be uniform.

Uniform speed means the object covers equal DISTANCE in an equal time intervals.
It's not necessary that the object must travel in straight travel.
 For example:
Let us consider an object moving in a uniform circular path.The object has uniform speed but at every point of journey it's direction changes which changes it's velocity and object motion will be accelerated.
