Because it causes the death of all the other organisms present inside or on the water bodies by utilising all the oxygen of water and making defeciency of oxygen and light inside the water. It was introduced in bengal because of its beautiful flowers but soon it became harmful for aquatic organisms. As fish is the supplement food in bengal so it caused the scarcity of food and hence known as terror of bengal.
