Adapter means "bridge"......tRNA has one acceptor site for amino acid and anticodon loop to attach with mRNA..... It is called an adapter molecule because it acts as a bridge between amino acids and mRNA....and formation polypeptide chain take place...via this

  • tRNA is called as an adapter molecule this is because of the fact that the tRNA attaches itself to the elongation factors of the ribosome that is mRNA complex.  
  • The mRNA complex facilitates the attachment of correct amino acid to the growing polypeptide chain by the particular anticodon to the mRNA codon.
