Lichens are called as dual organisms because they have symbiotic relationship between algae and fungus.

Explanation:

• Lichens are species that grown from the substrate of fungi in an algae environment

• The algae and the fungi are in mutual relationship the algae help them to produce food and the fungus help them to absorb the nutrients

• Symbiotic relationship is that the organisms have mutual support and they help each other and they are beneficiary to each other

• They are of various size and forms and they are divided into thallus and the filament body parts

• Lichens are of variety of colors and this is due to the presence of usnic acid
