cmd stands for command. It is the shortcut, used to run Ms-DOS operating system in a computer system. Ms-DOS is a CUI os in which we have to give character based command one at a time. Some if the command of Ms-DOS os are copy con(used to create a new file) , ren(rename) , del(delete) , copy, md(make directory) , cd(change directory) etc.
