The crocodile has the most complicated blood circulation system of all vertebrates. They have four chambers in their heart plus 2 vertebrates. This is very unusual in reptiles and crocodiles probably adopted this trait because they spend a lot of time in the water. When they are underwater their heart rate can slow down to one or two beats a minute thus reducing blood flow and saving oxygen. As soon as it’s above water again, the heart speeds right back up to normal in a matter of a few seconds. This makes the crocodile very unusual, unique and blood circulation very efficient
