We know that Mg and O combine in the ratio of 3:2 Mg:O = 3:2 Now 24g of Mg is given. Let the mass of O be X. 3:2 = X:24 Cross multiply both the sides. 3×X = 24×2 X = (24×2)÷3 = 48 ÷ 3 =16g Therefore 16g of O is required to completely mix with 24g of Mg.
