The momentum and the kinetic energy of a moving body are the body’s properties which is very much related to velocity.
Momentum is the product of the mass of the body and its velocity. It is a vector quantity. Its unit of measure in SI is kg * m/s.
Kinetic energy is the product of one-half of the mass of the body and the square of its velocity or speed. It is a scalar quantity. Its SI unit is kg * m^2/s^2. This unit is usually expressed in newton * meter or joule.
KE = 1/2 * m * v^2 and p = mv. We can manipulate the KE formula to show where momentum is in it.
KE = 1/2 * m * v^2
KE = 1/2 * m * v * v
KE = (m * v) * (1/2 * v)
KE = p * (1/2 v)
In words we can say that the kinetic energy of a body is equal to the product of its momentum and one-half of its velocity.
