Of offspring because their offspring are more vulnerable to predators and many of their offspring die .To compensate this loss and to gain natural fitness which can be gained if the organism has more offspring....bony fishes and reptiles has evolve to produce more offspring.More progeny, more natural fitness ,more survival.
