I think the final decision taken by Dr.Sadao was the best possible one in the given circumstances.
The reason is: Dr.Sadao was a very careful, considerate and a trained Doctor who could adjust himself fitting exactly to the situations and circumstances.
When the enemy was brought to the house, Doctor Sadao said "the best way that we would be to treat him is in returning into the sea" but, however, Dr.Sadao did not take this negative decision and rather tried his best to help the wounded man at the cost of his own life.
As a Doctor, he was morally trained not to let a man die if he can do his medical treatment.
