    Fungi:

    Characteristics of Fungi:

     

    1. Fungi are heterotrophic and eukaryotic organisms.
    2. They are normally saprophytes.
    3. Their cell walls are composed of chitin.
    4. Their reserve food material is glycogen.
    5. Many of them have the capacity to become multicellular organisms at certain stages in their lives.

    Examples – Aspergillus, Penicillium and Agaricus.
