Let the length of the smaller side (length) be x cm.
Then, length of longer side (breadth) = x + 4 cm
Then, it's perimeter,
= 2 × length + 2 × breadth
= 2 × x + 2 × (x + 4)
= 2x + 2x + 8
= 4x + 8
But, given Perimeter = 36 cm.
=> 4x + 8 = 36
=> 4x = 36 - 8
=> 4x = 28
=> x = 28/4
=> x = 7 cm
•°• Length = x = 7 cm
•°• Breadth = x + 4 = 7 + 4 = 11 cm.
♥ So, the length of its side are 7 cm and 11 cm.
