Party-based movements are not part of elections formally but they retain connections with political parties to ensure better representation of the demands of diverse social sections in party politics. Several party based based movement continue after post-independence period like Trade Union Movement in Mumbai, Kolkata and Kanpur. Whereas Non-Party based movements take place outside party politics and without contesting for election. They involve no form of political agenda in their work and solely has social service intentions.
