    Satellite communication is the method of transporting information from one place to another using a communication satellite in orbit around the earth.

    In India, the benefits of satellite communication are given below:

    1. For the weather forecast, monitoring of natural calamities, surveillance of border areas, etc. ,satellite images can be used.
    2. For telecommunication, meteorological observation and for various other data and programmes, it can be used as multi- purpose system.
    3. The National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) located at Hyderabad provides facilities for acquisition of data and its processing. These are very useful in the management of natural resources.
