Poetic devices are very easy to do if you understood once. Here are some common and important poetic devices; 1.Alliteration (means the sentence in which the first letter of every word is same like -she smiles suddenly) 2.Repitition(means in a sentence same word is used two or more times like-it is very very beautiful ) 3.Metaphor(means comparison between two things without using the words 'as ' or 'like' like-The snow is a white blanket) 4.Simile(means comparison between two things with using the words 'as'or 'like' like-She is as innocent as an angel) 5.personification(the non human objects are portrayed in such a way that we feel they have the ability to act like a human being like-Lightening danced across the sky) 6.Oxymoron (means two opposite ideas or words are joined together to create an effect like -cruel kindness and living dead..) 7.Imagery(means use the deacriptive language as it can produce a fully image of that condition clearly like -Flowers were moving in air as they were waving hello in our welcome), etc. These are some important poetic devices which can be very helpful in preparation for exam. I hope it will help you.
