In name of religion. 2 cities like Lahore, amritsar and Kolkata divided into `communal zones '. 3.forced to abandon their homes and move across border, people went through immense suffering. 4.minorities on both sides of the border fled their home and often secured temporary shelter in refugee camps. 5.1000s of women were abducted on both sides of the border. 6.in many cases own family members killed women to preserve family honor. 7.many children were separated from their parents.
