Differntiate between primary sludge and activated sludge
  • 1 answers

Dr. Rakesh Kumar 6 years, 7 months ago

Primary sludge is generated by sedimentation of soil, dust and other impurities during primary treatment. The partially cleaned water is then subjected to secondary treatment where it is aerated. Aerobic bacteria, fungi and slime moulds grow and decompose organic matter. The sedimentation of aerobic bacteria generates activated sludge. This is also used as inoculum during next cycle.
