Nutrition in Animals: Nutrition in animals takes place in five steps: ingestion, digestion, absorption, assimilation and egestion.
Ingestion – The process of taking food into the body is called ingestion. Different animals use different structures for taking food into their body like frog uses its long and cleft tongue to catch insects. Hydra ingests the food with the help of tentacles on which stinging cells are present. These cells kill the prey and put it into the mouth.
