i. The atmosphere is a vast envelope of gases.
ii. The heavier gases are found in lower layers.
iii. The atmospheric pressure decreases with altitude.
The atmosphere of Earth is composed of nitrogen (about 78%), oxygen (about 21%), argon (about 0.9%), carbon dioxide (0.04%) and other gases in trace amounts.
