The Canterville Chase was unequivocally haunted. Lord Canterville stated the truth about the Chase to Mr Otis when the latter expressed his wish to buy it. Lord Canterville narrated him all the horrific incidents that had transpired at the Chase, and which had resulted in tragedies and disabilities of many people who had come face to face with the ghost at the Chase. Even after Mr Otis's family shifted to the Chase, they themselves had many encounters with the ghost. Virginia had seen the ghost's secret cell where his skeleton had been lying without burial and last rites. At the end when the last rites had been performed; and he buried properly with prayers, his ghost attained salvation. Then the Chase remained no more haunted. So all these events, happenings prove the Chase had been haunted.
