very simple.. lets take eg. A and B are partners sharing profit in the ratio 3:2 . C admitted for 1/5 share in profit and acquired wholly from A. then new ratio will be A 3/5 -1/5 =2/5.... B 2/5 C 1/5 so new ratio will be 2:2:1

We need to let profit of that year i.e. Let the total profilt of this year =1 remaining profit = 1-share of new profit then, Multiply the remaining share with the old ratio of old partners and then match the denominator Here is your answer
