An english scientist Robert Hooke discovered cell in the year of 1665. While examining the thin section of cork under his simple microscope. He observed a mass of empty hezagonal chambers like a honey comb and called them as cell.. (Cell is a latin word for a little room)

Robert hook discoverd cell in 1665 ...sample used is cork he viewed the cork in his own microcope...which looks like honey combs ..he said about this in a book called micrographia...
