Douglas wants to learn swimming. That's he join y.m.c.a pool to learn .but he feared water because an incident was happened in author's life when he was three or four years old his father took him to the beach in California. His father and he stood together in the surf .the waves knocked his dowm and swept over him.he said that he buried in water .that's why he was frightened of water.when author went to y.m.ca pool then his unpleasant memories about fear of water rises.i hope this help u.
