Theories and principles developed in basic psychology are put to practical use in applied psychology.
Psychologists work as professionals in many applied fields, such as councellors in schools and colleges, clinical psychologists in hospitals, human relation consultants in industries.
Obviously, basic and applied psychologies are interdependent and they complement each other. Basically, basic psychology is knowledge based on observations, and can be replicated, shared and made public. Applied psychology on the other hand, is the area of psychology which is put to actual use in bettering human behaviour and life in practical situations.
