Let, The distance from point 'A' to point 'B'= AB = x,
Time taken to reach from A to B, when motorcyclist drives with speed 30 km h-1 = t1 = {tex}\frac{x}{30}{/tex}
Similarly,Time taken to reach from B to A, when motorcyclist drives with speed 20 km h-1 = t2 = {tex}\frac{x}{20}{/tex}
Now, Total time = t1 + t2 {tex}=\frac{5 x}{60} h{/tex}
Average speed for entire journey = {tex}\frac{\text { Total distance }}{\text { Total time }}{/tex} = {tex}\frac{\ 2x}{\frac{5 x}{60}}{/tex}= 24 km h-1.
