ओम के नियम के अनुसार यदि ताप आदि भौतिक अवस्थायें नियत रखीं जाए तो किसी प्रतिरोधक (या, अन्य ओह्मीय डिवाइस) के सिरों के बीच उत्पन्न विभवान्तरउससे प्रवाहित धारा के समानुपाती होता है।
अर्थात् V ∝ I
