Secondary follicle is formed when primary follicle is surrounded by more layers of granulosa cells and form a new outer covering( theca).Similiarly, tertiary follicle is formed when secondary follicle develops a fluid filled cavity called antrum.It is the advanced form of secondary follicle. The difference is that tertiary follicle is bigger and has antrum which is absent in secondary follicle.Actually secondary follicle gets tranformed into tertiary follicle.
