Explain the menstrual phase in human female.State the levels of ovarian and pituiary hormones during this phase.

In a28 days menstrual cycle, the menses take place on 3-5 daysof cycle.The production of LH from anterior lobe of pituitary gland is reduced.The withdrawal of this hormone causes degeneration of corpus luteum( secretes progesterone) and therefore progesterone production is reduced.Production of estrogen is also reduced in this phase.The endometrium of uterus breaks down and menstruation begins.The cells of endometrium secretions, blood and unfertilized ovum constitutes the menstrual flow.
