Wash the thermometer with an antiseptic solution. Hold it firmly and give few jerks. The jerks will bring down the temperature to the normal. The bulb should be placed under the tongue. After a minute take the thermometer out and note the reading. The temperature should always be stated in its unit i.e. degree Celsius.
