1)economic stagnation : increase military expenses and burden of central asian republics. 2)political and administrative stagnation. 3)Gorbachev's reforms and inability to stop the protests in USSR 4)rise of nationalism in Baltic republics , ukraine , georgia. 5)unexpected revolt from prosperous regions including the "europeanised part" of the USSR
