Why t rna is known as adapter
  • 1 answers

Meghna Thapar 5 years, 5 months ago

tRNA is called an adapter molecule because it attaches itself via initiation and elongation factors to the ribosome- mRNA complex which facilitates the incorporation of the correct amino acid to the growing polypeptide chain by its specific anticodon to the mRNA codon. tRNA is an adaptor molecule. ... tRNA is charged by attaching an amino acid at one end. It then binds the ribosome-mRNA complex at the position defined by a codon that codes for an amino acid. So, the tRNA molecule acts as an adaptor because it converts mRNA into proteins by the process of translation.
