Diameter of sphere=d New sphere=D So, D=d-20% of d D=d-20d/100 D=d-4d/20 D=4d/5 S.A. of old sphere= 4π(d/2)^2 = πd^2 S.A of new sphere= 4π[(4d/5)/2]^2 = (16πd^2)/25 % of area decrease = 【{πd^2 - (16πd^2)/25}/πd^2】×100 = 36%
