Incident at the YMCA pool affected Douglas both physically nd mentally. Though for some yrs, it made him weak with a trembling fear chasing him everywhere and deprived him of water activities, but it equally made him mentally strong nd determined nd his will to live grew in intensity.

He became hydrophobic. He was not able to enjoy the water related activities like fishing, boating, surfing, canoeing, swimming etc.
