Zitkala sa faced the prejudices and humiliations if marginalised community against mainstream culture. The rules were new nd strange to her. The clothes she was wearing were undignified in her culture nd cutting of her long her, which among 'em was for mourners nd cowards, made her feel like a little animal driven by a herder.

The indignities faced by zitkala sa and other children in the beginning was to adjust and modify their environment according to thei living condition .. for eg. Zitkala sa had to cut her hairs and lear the table manners in order to adjust in the carlisle indian school ... as they belong to low class she and other children had to suffer cruelty unwillingness and a lot more
