Because for gandhiji refund is not important than the fact that the landlords obliged to surrender part of the money and with it part of their prestige.

Gandhiji agreed 25% refund of money from Britishers because he explained that the amount of refund was less important than the fact that landlords had been obliged to surrender part of the money and with it part of the prestige therefore as far as peasants were concerned, the planters had behaved as lords above the law moreover he wanted to break the deadlock between the peasants and the landlords.
