Gandhiji was distressed seeing the plight of the share croppers on champaran He undertook various measures to alleviate the conditions of the peasants Initially he started collected information from various sources and further he was able to achieve the first civil disobedience act of modern India in champaran Yes, Gandhiji was able to instill self reliance in the share croppers by telling then that if their cause was just they should brave at heart and confidence in themselves instead of relying on other sources such as English men
