Li is hard,form covalent bond,it cannot hold large sized CO32- atoms and hence li2co3 is unstable to heat,lino3 decomposes to form oxides and no2 but other members form nitrides.Be does not react directly because of deposition of a protective oxide film over its surface so it is first converted into powderes form ,amphoteric in nature,it reacts with halogens in the form of beo.
