The density of warmer air is lower than cold air and air flows from higher pressure to lower pressure So the hot air rises or flows and cold air sinks. Heat will flow from high thermal energy to low thermal energy that's why, a particle with a lot of energy will give some of that energy to a particle with less energy i.e. always in motion.
