Before the Champaran victory, peasants were fear stricken and week. The landlords oftenly maltreat them and behave as lords above law.But as Gandhi politely disobeyed magistrate' s order and simultaneously cooperated government to control the crowd gathered in motihari in support of him, he showed that britishers now can also be challenged by indians and governmentcan't give them orders in their own country. Afterwards, the successful settlement of deadlock made it victory of civil disobedience.
