It is a constraint used in MySQL to put a condition on the insertion of values in a column of a table. And do not allow entering null values in that column..

not null if we use not null it means that value should not be null if there is no value inserted in it shows blank value

If a column in a row has no value, then it is said null but not to use null is to represent a value of zero.
