Onion peel experiment is done its study the cell structure.
Glycerin is considered as a mounting agent while making a slide of onion peel.
It is a good hydrating agent.
It does not allow the specimen to dry out during the long duration of study.
It provides a wet medium for the stain so the cell structure can be easily studied.
