The message conveyed through the story "A shady plot" is that man has no right to disturb the supernatural spirits to know the unknown. One should lead one's life boldly without depending on the spirits. We also came to know from the relationship of Hallock and Lavania that mutual trust is a neccesary ingrediant for a healthy relationahip
