A band of colors, as seen in a rainbow, produced by separation of the components of white light by their different degrees of refraction according to wavelength, is called the spectrum of white light. The colours which appear in the spectrum of white light are violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red (VIBGYOR).
