The two long term consequences of the drowning experience were:
- He could never forget the horrific incident an thus, left a lasting impression on him forever. He was scared of water for years to come and it took a lot of courage for him to be able to learn swimming after that.
- He became so scared of water that even his fishing trips were spoiled. He feared drowning on fishing trips too.
