    NPT restricted the non nuclear powers from developing nuclear weapons or weapons of mass destruction. Countries with nuclear arsenal like the US, USSR, CHINA,UK etc. prohibited other nations from acquiring nuclear weapons which was discriminatory and unfair and thus India refused to sign it.
