    Role of atmosphere Carbon dioxide and oxygen are being continuously consumed and generated by the organisms Green plants use carbon dioxide during photosynthesis and produce Oxygen and carbohydrates during respiration of organisms Oxygen and carbohydrates are consumed and carbon dioxide and water are formed Thus a balance of carbon dioxide and oxygen is maintained in the biosphere but in recent years man is indiscriminately using fossil fuels in this process is using more Oxygen and producing carbon dioxide this has resulted in increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere
