Transverse

The movement of the medium is of the same direction of the wave

The movement of the medium is perpendicular to the direction of wave

When the particles of the medium move back and forth in the direction of motion of the wave then it is said to be a longitudnal wave And when the particles of the medium move up and down in the direvtion of motion of the wave then it is said to be a travsverse wave
