    Xylem cell have thick walls and many of are dead cells. Xylem transport water and minerals vertically . In phloem material can move in both directions. Phloem transports food. Except for phloem fibres phloem cells are living cells.

    Xylem helps to transport water and minerals to the plant. It consists of 4 elements: vessels, trachieds, xylem parenchyma and xylem fibre. Phloem helps to transport food materials to the plants. It consists of 4 elements: sieve tube, companion cells , phloem parenchyma and phloem fibre.
